Bird Feeder and House Care
I know yall like the way your Feeders and houses look when you get them. Here's how to keep them looking that way for a long time to come!

1. Clean em out periodically. The birds can get sick on old moldy seed. If the bird seed in your feeder trays gets lumpy and clumpy clean it out.

2. Once a year clean the insides out. Take the bottom off your bird house or the top off your martin house or just flip the lid on a feeder and clean out the old stuff .

3. Today's weather is tough on finishes. Be it acid rain or the thinning Ozone layer ...Who knows? But the finishes on out side stuff will weather. Give your feeders and houses a face lift by applying a fresh coat of EXTERIOR grade Spar Varnish to keep the finish on your feeders looking bright and shiny for years to come!

4. Hey Spring time is Nesting time! Help your lil Critters out! Set few strands of yarn, or thin strips of cloth out for the birds to build their nests with! Got an old raggedy String mop that needs changing? Before you throw the old mop head away, cut the mop strings off and set em out !

5. Every spring my son wants his hair cut really short, I take his clippings and put them out, usually draped through our chain link fence. Within a few hours, we watch (mainly bluebirds and titmouses) gather up his hair for nesting material. Also, to encourage more songbirds to your feeder, plant an evergreen tree or dense bush near the birdfeeder area to provide cover. submitted by: Norma Purviance
